Graduation Letter from Principals

To the Class of 2020,
District officials and your school principals have pursued three options to provide you the best graduation experience and still adhere to the guidelines presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the event the social distancing guidelines are lifted by the time of our graduation ceremonies, F1S has reserved the inside of The Florence Center and graduation will commence in our traditional method. The other two options pursued were outside venues, the Darlington Raceway and the Florence Center. After a review of both venues, the Darlington Raceway, although unique, would not be able to facilitate our goals and the traditional experience for our graduates which is to walk across the stage to receive a diploma. Therefore, we will proceed with an outside graduation ceremony at the Florence Center. This venue will allow for our traditional graduation ceremony and for each graduate to walk across the stage to receive their diploma with family members present under the current COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.

Graduation ceremonies will remain on the scheduled dates, but with an adjusted time:
Wilson High School—May 27, 10:00 am
South Florence—May 28, 10:00 am
West Florence—May 29, 10:00 am

In the event of rain, the rain dates will be June 1, June 2, and June 3. A school that is rained out will be moved to the first rain date. Additional specific information will be shared by your schools in the coming weeks to include details on graduation procedures. We are excited to share that we will be able to proceed with graduation ceremonies in a format that is as traditional as possible under the current conditions. Florence 1 Schools is proud of your accomplishments and believe you deserve the best experience possible to commemorate your high school graduation.
