Young Minds Dreaming Poetry Contest

This year’s Young Minds Dreaming Poetry Contest invites all SC students in grades 3rd to 12th to write a poem using the theme “imagining what you could do.”

Imagine what it is like to consider your own possibilities. Can you envision all the possibilities that may await you? Have you ever imagined what you might be when you grow up? What are your hopes and dreams as you search for your place in life?

In your own words, write about your imagination and dreams. Can you imagine that even the unlikeliest of dreams might come true?

Winners will be notified by email and announced on our website. They are invited to attend a special awards ceremony with their families at the SC State Library and to meet guest poet Juan Felipe Herrera. The awards ceremony includes prizes, such as Amazon gift cards and signed copies of Herrera's newest books, poetry readings by the winning students, and a reception.
