Southside Middle to Hold a Ghost-Out on Friday

A ghost-out is an alcohol and drug awareness program aimed at students to raise awareness that traffic crashes are the number one killer of teens with over one-third of teen traffic deaths being alcohol-related nation wide.

At 10:30 a.m. on Friday a medical helicopter will converge upon Southside Middle. At 1:30 p.m., an ambulance will go to the gym and role play a drunk driving accident involving a teen. The ambulance will begin its "Ghost Out" assembly.

Seventy-five students will role play being hit by either a high driver, texting driver or drunk driver. The assembly ends with teachers showing the students one can have fun without using drugs or alcohol.
