Sneed Middle School 4-H Club Wins Top Honors
The Sneed Middle School 4-H Squire Squad Club took home the First-Place win in the 4-H Club Exhibits competition during the inaugural Greater Pee Dee State Fair that was recently held at the Florence Center. The Greater Pee Dee State Fair featured and sponsored 4-H exhibits developed by 4-H clubs from counties across the Pee Dee Region. This year’s exhibitors were from Chesterfield, Clarendon, Darlington, Florence, Sumter and Williamsburg Counties. All displays were to showcase the national 4-H theme “4-H Grows Here” and highlight club projects. The Sneed Middle 4-H booth selected to highlight their honey bee pollinator project. “Bee Smart … Bee a Part of 4-H” emphasized the importance of pollinators while teaching fair attendees about the honey bee life cycle, beekeeping, honey harvest and products made from honey. The booth also featured fun, interactive handmade wooden photo display opportunities where fair goers could have a keepsake picture made as a beekeeper or a honey bee. The Sneed Middle 4-H Club under the direction of 4-H Club Leader, Mrs. Lynn Howard, plans to continue utilizing the props at additional festivals and events around Florence County. Sneed Middle School 4-Hmembers are always willing to give of their time to share valuable information with local citizens while developing and improving their own communication skills.
