Here's what's happening at Greenwood, 12/9/18
Here’s what is happening at Greenwood:
Our Annual Greenwood Christmas Dance for 3rd through 6th grade students will be held Friday, December 14th from 6-8:00PM in the school cafeteria. Tickets are $5 if purchased in advance or $7 at the door.
We are collecting mittens, gloves and socks to distribute to needy children during the cold weather. If your child would like to participate, please have them bring in a new item and place it under the Christmas Tree in the front hallway. We will collect these items until Friday, December 14. Thank you for helping us to help others.
The Greenwood Chorus, Band and Strings treated us to a wonderful concert last week! A big thank you to these talented students and their wonderful teachers for sharing the gift of music with us.
Also last week, all of our students participated in The Hour of Code. Please ask you child to tell you about what they did in their classroom with our coding robots.
We still have a few parents of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students who have not come to the school to sign the Digital Users’ Guide. If you have not done this yet, come by the school any day this week. We have a station set up in the media center for you to receive information and sign the guide.
The Beta Club sponsored a fundraiser for “Wreaths Across America” earlier this school year. We were able to purchase 28 wreaths to place on the graves of veterans. Parents and students are invited to a wreath laying ceremony on Saturday Dec. 15 Noon at Florence National Cemetery. The ceremony will provide some introductory remarks from military personnel. After the ceremony, volunteers will move to areas of the cemetery where they will participate in the laying of wreaths on headstones. Please park at the Dept. of Special Needs and Disabilities parking lot. Parking and walk in gate will open at 10:00AM. Parents must stay with their children.
Students can access some of the digital programs that they use at school at home! Check out the Greenwood website for new “How to” video’s for LightSail and Reflex Math.
Dec. 18 - Polar Express Day at Greenwood! We are asking all of the students to join the faculty and staff in wearing their favorite warm and wooly pajamas to school.
Dec. 19 - Last day before the Winter Break. It is a half day with dismissal at 11:10AM. Lunch will not be served. Please put a note in your child’s agenda if there is a change in transportation. Thank you.
