SC Superintendent of Education, Ellen Weaver, visits Florence 1 Schools
Florence 1 Schools was proud to host South Carolina Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver on August 1st, the first day of school for our students! During Superintendent Weaver’s visit, she traveled to several district locations, including Palmetto’s Finest Winner Delmae Elementary School and Compass Academy.
Superintendent Weaver’s visit highlighted innovation and community partnerships within Florence 1 Schools. At Compass Academy, she learned about the school’s innovative approach to combining K-12 educational and therapeutic services in the school setting. At The Farm, she learned about the district’s mission to create a culture of wellness, improve food quality and access, and engage students in the rich agricultural traditions of the Pee Dee Region.
After visiting the historic Poynor building, currently under construction to become a School of Innovation in Healthcare, Superintendent Weaver had a roundtable discussion with Florence 1 Board Members, administrators, and teachers to discuss the proposed statewide cell phone policy.
Thank you to our community partners MUSC Boeing Center for Children's Wellness, McLeod Health, Healy Horticulture, HopeHealth and Clemson Extension for always sharing your expertise.
Superintendent Weaver, we are looking forward to a wonderful new school year filled with innovative educational opportunities for all students in Florence 1. Thank you for visiting and helping us kick off the school year!
