Local Student Performer Selected to Perform at Royal Festival Hall in London, England
Florence, SC – Godric F. Armstrong, a student at West Florence High School, has been selected for the High
School Honors Performance Series at Royal Festival Hall in London. Godric will perform the Flute in July with
the Honors Band. Participation in the Honors Ensembles is limited to the highest-rated young performers from
across the world.
Godric auditioned for the Honors Performance Series and was recently accepted after a review by the Honors
Selection Board. Acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements
demonstrated in their application and audition recording.
Godric has studied music for over 11 years and is a member of the West Florence Marching Knights. He is one
of two Drum Majors for the upcoming season. Godric is a graduate of St. Anthony Catholic School and a rising
senior at West Florence High School. He has been selected to the South Carolina All State Band multiple
times and also to the All State Orchestra. He was also the recipient of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award as a
freshman at West Florence. In response to his selection, Godric said, “I am extremely grateful for this
opportunity to perform on one of the most famous stages in the world. I also want to thank my parents, my
band director, and my friends who encouraged me to step forward and explore my abilities as a musician and
as a person.”
Godric will join performers from 46 states, Guam, South Korea, and Canada for a special performance at the
world-famous Royal Festival Hall, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement. The finalists will
come together in London, England where they will have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned
conductors, work with other performers, and get a taste of London. The Honors Performance will take place
July 28th and is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased beginning approximately 60 days prior to the
performance through the Royal Festival Hall at Southbank Centre box office.

10,000 nominations this year and have selected the most talented student performers from around the world.
Working with these conductors and performing at these renowned music halls is a once-in-a-lifetime
experience that these musicians will never forget.”
The Honors Performance Series was created to showcase accomplished individual student performers on an
international level by allowing them to study under master conductors and perform in world renowned venues.
