Florence 1 Fine Arts Students Travel to New York City 🍎

What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything? - Vincent Van Gogh

Thirty high school Fine Arts students from across the district, along with eleven chaperones comprised of ten teachers and a nurse, recently took a five-day trip of a lifetime to New York City this summer. One of the best parts? The cost of the trip was covered by Florence 1! Our students made unforgettable memories exploring New York City’s Times Square, and landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, World Trade Center Oculus, and the New York Stock Exchange.

Our Fine Arts group attended Broadway shows like Hamilton and Wicked and were inspired by the costumes and stage concepts at the Museum of Broadway. They were captivated by experiencing firsthand breathtaking famous works, like Van Gogh’s Starry Night, at the Museum of Modern Art and pieces currently housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. While engaging discussions took place over meals, like lunch in Central Park, they also walked to the Museum of Natural History and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
