Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year.  I am an 8th grade mathematics teacher here at Southside Middle School, where I currently teach algebra 1 for high school credit and Academic pre-algebra. I am Southside Middle School's "Teacher of the Year" for this school year; an honor that I am grateful for. I have been teaching mathematics for over 28 + years.  I started here at Southside Middle in August, 2007.  Prior to coming here, I taught in Charleston County School District.  I graduated from the College of Charleston with a B.S. in mathematics and a M.A. in Administration from The Citadel.  My passion for teaching lies in the knowledge and satisfaction of seeing a "light of understanding" turned on in my students, thus allowing them to "unwrap" their gifts of knowledge.

We have become a STEAM accredited school and implemented the 1:1 Initiative where each student has the opportunity of receiving a chromebook to assist in his/her learning.  Mathematics now will not only be a subject where students apply their knowledge using pencil and paper only, but now students will have access to technology integrated into their learning.  In my classes, students will have significant opportunities to achieve success and gain a deeper understanding of mathematical skills that will transfer to high school, college, or any avenue they wish to pursue beyond the walls of Southside Middle School.  As stated by Joyce Meyer, "A number 2 pencil and a dream can take you anywhere".  Parents and students, it is my desire to work collaboratively together as a team to ensure success for all.
