Before pursuing her Master's degree and teaching certificate, Mrs. Hill spent many hours volunteering at local parks giving trail tours for children and adults; helping with courses in sustainable gardening, wildflowers, trees, and wildlife; fighting the never-ending battle against non-native invasive species; and directing a summer camp for Environmental Education. It was these experiences that led her to become an educator. She works to incorporate the concepts of sustainability and environmental responsibility into every unit of her standards-based 7th Grade Science class, and is proud to use her global outlook to help her students recognize that they are able to make a difference in the world by affecting positive change in their communities.
Mrs. Hill is the facilitator of the Recycling and Environmental Action Club at Sneed Middle School, has served on the Board of Directors of Keep Florence Beautiful, and was part of the pilot of the Palmetto Environmental Education Certification Program. In 2015, she received her National Board certification and was named Environmental Educator of the Year by the Environmental Education Association of South Carolina. In 2021 she received the Online Education endorsement from Clemson University.
