Mr. William S. Ward

Prior to being Carver's SmartLab Coach, I taught at West Florence High School (WF).  During my time at WF, I taught Physical Science, Chemistry, and Engineering.  I began teaching after completing a successful career in the Pharmaceutical industry as a Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemist.  I look forward, each day, to sharing my scientific knowledge and problem-solving abilities with students.

I am a graduate of Missouri State University with a degree in Chemistry and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.  I then attended the Chemical Officer Basic Course and the Army Airborne School.   My first assignment was at the U.S. Army Chemical Research, Development, and Engineering Center (CRDEC).  While at CRDEC I attended Johns Hopkins University and completed a Master of Science degree in Educational Technology.  After I completed my masters, I was assigned to Germany to finish the last three years of my military commitment obtaining the rank of Captain.  Upon returning to the United States, I started my career in the Pharmaceutical industry.

It is my strong belief that a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education is critical for all students growing up in a very technical world.  I am excited about the many learning opportunities available with Carver's SmartLab.  I set the bar for each student to an individualized height that requires them to make an attainable stretch.  I am also very pleased and excited about the many STEM initiatives within Florence School District One.
