    2018 FSD1 Student-Athletes of the Year

Florence School District One held its Male and Female Athlete of the Year ceremonies with student nominees representing each of the three high schools. Each high school nominated one male and one female athlete, and a committee of local sports editors and directors selected the overall winners announced at the Florence Country Club. Avahna Baker and Ryan Nelson, both of Wilson High School, received the Florence One 2018 Female and Male Athlete of the Year Awards, respectively. Florence One Director of Secondary Education Dr. Kelvin Wymbs also announced this year’s “You’ve ‘Gotta Have Heart” Award winner, Wilson’s Avahna Baker. The award is presented to the athlete who has succeeded in spite of obstacles.
