Dr. Lucia Huang

Originally from Taiwan, Dr. Huang has been living in the US since 1988.  She received her MA in German and Ph.D. in Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  

During her Tennessee years, she worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the German Department and the College of Education.  She taught first-year German classes and helped professors integrate technology into their curriculum.  After moving to South Carolina, she taught German at Coker College and education courses at Francis Marion University, Coastal Carolina University, and the University of Phoenix Online. She has been a German teacher at Wilson High School since 1998. She was the 2013-2014 Florence School District One Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Huang's research interests are Reading Education, Foreign Language Education, and Folk Literature.  In 1999, Peter Lang Publishing published her book American Young Adult Novels and their European Fairy-Tale Motifs.   Her Chinese book entitled 歌德的愛與靈魂 was published by Eurasia Publishing in 2005. It is a book about the life of the great German writer, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

In her spare time, Dr. Huang likes opera, reading, and watching movies.  She reads books and news articles in  Chinese, German, and English.  It is very interesting to her to read about one incident from the points of view of people from different countries.
