Ms. Mary Lynn Woodward
Hello to all!
My name is Mary Lynn Woodward, and I live in Chesterfield, South Carolina. My educational background consists of a B.A. in Music Education from Coker College, a M.S. in Education with a concentration in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University, and a M.Ed. in Elementary Education with a concentration in STEAM. In 2006, I became Nationally Board Certified, and in 2016 I achieved National Board Recertification. I plan to complete my Ed.D in Educational Leadership once my children have completed their degrees. I have been teaching for 22 years. Prior to moving to Delmae Elementary, I taught five years at North Vista Elementary. This is my fourth year at Delmae.
In 2016, I received the honor of North Vista Elementary Teacher of the Year. Later that same year, I was recognized as the 2016-2017 Florence One Teacher of the Year. In March of 2017, the honorable Molly Spearman visited my classroom to announce I was selected as a top-five finalist for the 2017-2018 South Carolina Teacher of the Year. In 2017, I was selected as the American Legion Department of South Carolina Teacher of the Year. I am also a 2018 GRAMMY Music Educator quarterfinalist and nominee for the Music and Arts National Music Educator of the Year. I have served on numerous educational committees and boards. In addition, I am Delmae's Extended Day Site Coordinator.
I am the proud momma of three extraordinary young adults. My oldest son, Dylan is a 2018 graduate of Coastal Carolina University where he received his Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration and Marketing. He is currently an agent at Farm Bureau Insurance. On February 6, 2021, Dylan married my beautiful daugter-in-law, Ramsey. She is a 3rd grade teacher for the Darlington County School District. My daughter, Taylor recently graduated from Coastal Carolina University where she earned her Bachelor's of Science in Forensic Psychology with a minor in National Security and Intelligence. Taylor is also an airman in the United States Air Force, and serves as a Security Forces officer at the Charleston Air Force Base. My youngest son, Noah is a junior at the University of South Carolina where he majors in Integrated Information Technology with a minor in Business Administration. As you can tell, I am a SUPER DUPER PROUD momma.
I believe the best teachers are teachers who reach children where they are and show them they can excel beyond their dreams. It is my goal as an educator to not take up space, but to create a space where children feel safe to explore, create, take chances, and succeed far beyond any limitations that may be placed upon them.
I am very excited to be a part of the Delmae family. I look forward to many wonderful opportunities, as well as serving the amazing students at Delmae. Delmae Dawgs are extraordinary.
