Ms. Mary Lynn Woodward
Hello to all!
My name is Mary Lynn Woodward. I am a native of Chesterfield, South Carolina. I earned a B.A. in Music Education from Coker College. I was the first person in my family to attend college. In 2006, I earned a M.S. in Education with a concentration in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. I also achieved National Board Certification in 2006. In 2016, I achieved National Board Recertification. I recently earned a M.A. in Elementary Education with a concentration in STEAM Curriculum. I plan to pursue my Ed.D in Educational Leadership. I have been teaching for 20 years. I began teaching for Florence One in 2013. I previously taught five years at North Vista Elementary before transferring to Delmae Heights Elementary.
I was given the honor of being selected by my colleagues as the 2016-2017 North Vista Elementary Teacher of the Year. I was later selected as the 2016-2017 Florence District One Teacher of the Year. I am also a 2017-2018 S.C. Teacher of the Year top five finalist and Honor Roll teacher. In 2017, I was selected as the American Legion Department of South Carolina Teacher of the Year. I am also a 2018 GRAMMY Music Educator quarterfinalist and nominee for the Music and Arts National Music Educator of the Year. I have also had the honor of being selected as a S.C. Future Minds' Teacher Hero a few times. I serve on numerous educational committees and boards. I am also a member of the S.C. Future Minds Teacher Cabinet.
I am the proud momma of three children. My oldest son, Dylan is a 2018 graduate of Coastal Carolina University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing. My daughter, Taylor is a sophomore at Coastal Carolina University where she is majoring in Forensic Psychology and minoring in National Security and Intellingence. My youngest son, Noah is an 11th grade Honors student with hopes of pursuing a career in engineering. He also plays baseball and runs cross country for Chesterfield High School.
I believe the best teachers are teachers who reach children where they are and show them they have the ability to excel beyond their dreams. It is my goal as an educator to not take up space, but to create a space where children feel safe to explore, create, take chances, and succeed far beyond any limitations society, their family, or themselves place upon them.
I am very excited to be a part of the Delmae family. I look forward to many wonderful opportunities, as well as serving the amazing students at Delmae. Delmae Dawgs are extraordinary.
