I have been an employee in the public school system for 31 years, six as an instructional assistant and 25 as a classroom teacher. I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University. A few years later, I received my teaching certificate from National University in San Diego.  
     After three years of teaching 3rd grade and multilingual learners in San Diego, my family and I moved to Pensacola, Florida, where I taught 3rd grade for seven years. In 2008, I moved to Florence, South Carolina.   I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade at Greenwood Elementary School.  I taught 4th grade ELA and social studies at Carver Elementary. This is my first year as a Multilingual Learner Program Specialist in Florence 1 Schools. I am looking forward to having a great year.
