Mrs. Malika Crawford

Mrs. Malika Crawford was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. As a youth, she spent several summers in Marion County, South Carolina, her father’s home. When she was ten years old, she told her grandmother when she grew up, she would live in South Carolina. By 2006, Mrs. Crawford had completed a Bachelor of Arts in History from Kean University of New Jersey; the time had come to make her move.

From July 2007 until May 2011, Mrs. Crawford taught all three grade levels of Middle School Social Studies.  Two years of 6th and 7th and two years of 8th Grade Social Studies. She was the advisor/coach for the Middle School Color Guard Squad during the band’s tenure, and acted as the interim Social Studies department chair for one year. Mrs. Crawford took a six-year hiatus from teaching. In 2017 she was pursuing her first-love career again. Mrs. Crawford taught  one year at a private school in Marion, SC, and four years in North Carolina. She is delighted to be teaching near home once again.

Mrs. Crawford is certified in North and South Carolina to teach 6-12th grade Social Studies. She always wanted to teach and loved the “real” history she discovered as an undergraduate student. She believes students should be explorers of, not only our collective story, but their own, individual ones as well.  She provides the tools for students to approach such pursuits in an honest, realistic, and effective manner.
