My teaching-related experiences consists of holding a position as a childcare attendant at Pee Dee Academy, as well as being a reading tutor for two students.  While holding this position, I oversaw children attending the daycare facility by creating a safe and positive environment. I was also able to emphasize the importance of education and learning by tutoring and ensuring all homework was finished by the end of the day. I was also a substitute teacher at Pee Dee Academy where I was responsible for implementing detailed lesson plans left by the classroom teacher as well as introducing new material to students in the areas of Math and ELA using games and story hour which encouraged comprehension, problem-solving, and vocabulary. While tutoring two students, I developed developmentally appropriate individualized plans focusing on the weaknesses of each student. Also, I created specified learning games and lesson plans in the areas of Reading and Phonics.

I graduated, Cum Laude, from Coker College in 2011, with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood.  My teaching experience consists of student teaching in a 5K class at Easterling Primary School in Marion, South Carolina.  I taught second grade at Easterling Primary School for two and half years. During this time,  I was able to strengthen students’ abilities with their use of comprehension skills such as making connections and predictions, and asking questions. I also encouraged critical thinking skills through stimulating discussions. Purposeful journal writing and focused on many facets of writing. I am currently teaching  Special Needs students in a 3K/4K Developmentally Delayed class located at Rush Child Development Center.
