  • Individual Gradtions Plans

     

    The major objective of career exploration is for students to gain an understanding of what their career goals are and to set a plan of education and training for them to follow throughout their high school career. It is also a goal that they plan for what they want to do beyond high school so that they can achieve those goals. They will explore each of the 16 career clusters. They will also create a personal plan (I.G.P. " Individual Graduation Plan" . Based on their career goals, they will have the opportunity to participate in Field Studies to link what they are doing in school to real world applications.  

  • 8th Grade Career Exploration

     

    The middle school career counselor will  focus on the rapidly changing needs of young adolescents. We are especially sensitive to the struggles of middle school students for identity and for balancing the demands for academic, career, and social competencies. In addition, the career department will work with the students to develop a 9th grade course listing and talk about graduation requirements. The plan will take into account students' interests as well as educational and occupational plans. Students will take career assessments, complete a "Self Interest Inventory", conduct career exploration, and complete an "Individual Graduation Plan" (I.G.P.). Students will also be involved in many outside of the classroom activities, which include college tours / visits, Structured Field Studies, and tours of the Florence Career Center.
