“Children can create beautiful music but music creates beautiful children”.  This quote has resonated with me since the first time I heard it.  Music opens doors for children to be able to express themselves where words fall short.  Music is a common language that can reach across boundaries and create a sense of togetherness.  I receive such joy when a child’s enthusiasm is enriched because a new found interest in learning to sing or play a musical instrument is priceless.

My love for music began as a young child through singing and dancing.  As I grew older, my love for singing and performing developed even more when I was chosen to join the South Florence Choraliers.  Under the direction of my high school choral director, I realized my love for music was a gift I had been given and I desired to share my gift with others.  Teaching not only allows me to share my love for music but build relationships with my students through the music we make together.  Music speaks beyond words.

I joined Florence School District One in 1996 and taught music at Dewey Carter and Moore Intermediate before moving to Briggs.  I earned my Bachelor of Music Education degree from Winthrop University, as well as a Master of Education degree from Lesley University.
