Ms. Sharri Duncan, NBCT, M.AEd., DTOY 2018-19

Welcome to Digital Arts class and Media Arts Class. I am very excited to be teaching middle school classes. Classes will start with the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design, beginning drawing skills, and basic media techniques skills needed to accomplish the objectives.

We will be working on assignments aligned with the 2017 South Carolina College and Career Ready Visual and Performing Arts Standards included are: South Carolina  Visual Arts Standards, South Carolina Media Arts Standards, South Carolina Design Proficiency Standards, and the skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.

In 2020, I obtained my Master in Art Education degree from Converse College. In 2019, I was elected to the South Carolina National Board Network Board of Directors and will be serving on the board for the next two years. I represented SCNBN in Washington, D.C. advocating for education on Capitol Hill with senators from South Carolina.  In 2018-19, I had the honor of representing Moore as Teacher of the Year and Florence 1 Schools as District Teacher of the Year. In 2012, I became a National Board Certified Teacher. In 2004, I became a certified visual arts teacher after a successful career in architectural non-residential interiors design in Dallas, Texas for fifteen years.  In 1977, I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Interior Design.

As an artist, my favorite media for artwork are clay, stone, and photography. I consider myself a potter, a sculptor, and a photographer. In 2014 and 2017, my photography was accepted and shown at the Lake City ArtFields competition.

I have two adult children. My son graduated from Francis Marion University in 2015. He is a fiction writer and songwriter. My daughter graduates from the University of Tennessee Veterinary School of Medicine in May 2021.

I have three pets, Leo the bird, and two cats...Monty and Penny.

And yes, I am a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. Go 'Boys! Please understand, it is a matter of geography!
