My name is Tonette Dixon Mack, and the 2017-2018 school year marks my thirty-fifth year of teaching. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina and two Masters of Education degrees from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. One Master’s degree is a specialization in arts integration while the other Masters has an emphasis in technology. Thirty-four of my years in education have been here at Williams Middle School as an English teacher. Since the inception of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, I have served as the eighth grade English I Honors instructor. I hold Gifted and Talented endorsement for the state of South Carolina as well as certification in the state’s Read 2 Succeed Program. I also spent many rewarding years teaching in the Adult Education Program at Poynor. My colleagues selected me as Williams Middle School’s Teacher of the Year in 1986 and again in 2005. In 2005, I was selected as Florence School District One’s Teacher of the Year.
I believe I have chosen one of the most rewarding and honorable of all professions. It is my desire to continue to provide meaningful learning experiences my students will treasure for a lifetime.
