Hello and welcome. This is my fifth year at Dewey L. Carter Elementary School and I am thankful and proud to be a part the DLC family! I have been teaching since August of 2000. I am a native of Florence and attended Florence One schools. After graduation from South Florence High School, I attended Francis Marion University and graduated with a Bachelor's in Fine Art and a Master's in the Art of Teaching Learning Disabilities. My husband Stephen and I have two children, Emily and William, who have also attended F1S. 

My class has two assistants: Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Lawhon. We love our students so much and work hard for the success of every one of them. We are a family here at DLC and in our classroom. We look out for each other, we respect each other, and take care of each other. We have simple rules: Nice words, Nice hands and feet, and good work! 

I have found over the years that students (and children in general) need clear boundaries. We set a schedule for them here at school and they need one at home as well because they thrive when they have knowledge of their day and what is expected of them :) EVERY STUDENT matters! EVERY MOMENT counts!
