  • My name is Christy James.  I am one of the Professional School Counselors for 7th grade students here at Southside Middle School. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Francis Marion University and a Master of Education from Troy University. I also have my Master of Education in School Counseling from Liberty University. Although this is my first year as a school counselor, working with children has always been my passion.

  • Hello! My name is Kim Osborne and I am the Professional School Counselor for all 8th graders at Southside Middle School. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Secondary Education/English from Clemson University. I obtained my Master’s of Education in Counseling from Clemson as well. I have been a school counselor for many years and have always enjoyed helping students strive to reach their full potential. I also serve as the club advisor for Southside’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Working with middle students is an adventure, and I look forward to a great year!

  • Hello! My name is Wanda Smith and I am one of Professional School Counselor at Southside Middle School for students in the 7th grade. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from South Carolina State University.  I am also, certified as a Global Career Development Facilitator. I look forward to an outstanding year as we help ALL of our Falcon SOAR!

Mrs. Peterkin
  • Ms. Vicky Peterkin

  • Vicky Peterkin, School Based Therapist, at Southside Middle School has been with Florence One Schools since 2016 and has worked at Briggs Elementary and Moore Middle School. Vicky received her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the College of Charleston and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice and has almost 18 years of experience as a counselor. Vicky believes being a counselor is her calling and she has a heart for children and adolescents and enjoys helping them to develop insight into their behaviors and learning safe and health coping skills to help them with managing emotions, stress and life circumstances. Vicky has been at Southside Middle School since 2018 and enjoys being a part of the Falcon Family.
