    Scholarship Information

    • The Gates Scholarship: The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, full scholarship for exceptional, Pell-eligible, minority, high school seniors. Starting in 2018, the scholarship will be awarded to 300 top student leaders each year with the intent of promoting their academic excellence through college graduation, and providing them the opportunity to reach their full potential.       • Eligibility requirements are:
        A high school senior, from at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American
        Pell-eligible w/ a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale
    • Horatio Alger Scholarship. Students must be enrolled full time as a high school senior, exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution, demonstrate critical financial, and display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity. As one of the nation’s largest college financial aid programs in the country, the Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program is one of the major scholarship programs nationally that specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives..     • Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship is awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States. Critical financial need ($55,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is required)   Deadline: The CTE application is open and will be reviewed on a rolling basis as scholarships remain available.     • THE COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 30th class in 2018, the Foundation has provided over 6,000 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $66 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.     • Prudential Spirit of Community Award Applicants must be in grades 5-12 as of November 6, be a legal resident of any U.S. state or Washington, D.C, have engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred during the 12 months prior to the date of the application, and submit a completed application to a school or the head of an official designated local organization by November 6, 2018.     • The Sixt Scholarship: Sixt rent a car is pleased to offer five high school seniors graduating in 2018 the opportunity to receive a $5,000 scholarship and become a Sixt scholar. The program is designed to assist high school students who plan to continue their education in college. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. Students must have a 3.7/4.0 GPA.     • Ronald McNair Scholarship- Francis Marion University: Students must be admitted to FMU by December 3rd, have at least a 3.0 GPA and a 24 (ACT) or 1160 (SAT) in order to be considered.       • Eligibility requirements are:
        Applicant must have lost one or both parents by death.
        It is important that excellence in character, ability and enterprise be shown to indicate that the individual will make worthwhile contributions to society.
    • Dr. Pepper Video Contest- Win $1000 for Tuition: Record and upload a video sharing your future college and career goals. Be enthusiastic and creative. Get friends and family members to vote for you online. Dr. Pepper will give 5 $1000 scholarships monthly for videos with the most likes. Deadline: October 17, 2018.     • The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship The annual award amount for the freshman year is up to $6,700. The award amount for the sophomore, junior and senior years is up to $7,500 per year. Eligible recipients must-  Score at least 1200 on the SAT (27 on the ACT) 1 by the November national test administration, earn a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA on the SC Uniform Grading Policy (SC UGP) at the end of the junior year, and rank in the top six percent of the class at the end of either the sophomore or the junior year;  OR Score at least 1400 on the SAT (32 on the ACT) If you feel you meet these requirements, please see Mrs. Plowden ASAP.
