Degrees and Certifications:
After 20 plus years working as a psychologist, I decided to pursue a different career in teaching. I have a wonderful family who have supported me in this venture and I have really enjoyed teaching here at Greenwood over the past nine years. My family is very near to my heart; I cherish each and every one of them. I have a wonderfully supportive husband and two daughters. My oldest daughter was involved in a four-wheeling accident in the summer of 2003, and she was in a coma for nine days. We weren’t even sure she would survive. Following her release from the hospital, I quit my job as the psychologist for Disabilities and Special Needs and focused on her rehabilitation full time. This has taught me to be thankful for every day that you have on earth and that you need to spend as much time as you can with family and cherish every moment of it. Luckily my oldest daughter has recovered better than expected and I began substituting at the local elementary school approximately two years after her accident. I discovered I truly loved it and began the process of renewing my teaching certificate and adding on Elementary Education. I originally graduated from Winthrop College with a double major in Psychology and Secondary Education. I continued at Winthrop for my graduate work and received my MS in School Psychology. For the past eight years I have been teaching 5th grade and really enjoy it.
