Carver Elementary School is located, within the city limits, on the west side of Florence, South Carolina. It is one of the 14 elementary schools in Florence School District One. Carver consists approximately of 600 students in grades kindergarten to fourth grade. The faculty and staff consist of full time teachers, speech therapists, a nurse, classroom assistants, office staff, custodians, cafeteria staff, and part-time occupational therapists. Carver also has a guidance counselor, a part-time behavioral specialist, a psychologist, an ESL specialist and a media specialist. Principal Chris Rogers and Assistant Principal Josie Little work closely with an instructional coach, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Coach and Literacy Coach.
Carver was originally built over 50 years ago in 1952. In 1996, a new Carver building was constructed within five minutes of the original school.
