Mr. Earnest Scipio

Hello, my name is Earnest Scipio and I am the Auto Body Collision teacher at the Advantage Academy. In my Junior year of High School, I took the Auto Body class, and at the time it was  known as the  Career Center. With the knowledge and education that I gained over the years, I was able to open my Auto Painting and Custom shop known as SipShine Customs.

My class consists of a total of 25 students. Upon entering the class, all students must pass the S/P2 safety portion of the class,in order to enter the body shop. The Auto Body 1 students  have learned the different body parts of a car, how to properly wash and detail a car,the different grits of sandpaper and what they are used for, sanding and repairing dents with body filler, and they are currently working on priming and blocking. The Auto Body 2 students are all returning students and started out repairing dents and priming bodywork. The students were excited to use the paint guns to apply custom colors and pearl paints to sample spray out models. Students are learning how important it is to work together as a team.

My goal is to teach each student that there are so many different fields that they can enter into within Auto Body Collision.  I want all students to understand and learn the correct way to repair and apply paint.  We will be going on field trips and visiting different businesses that deal with all types of car related services. I will also have guest speakers and hands-on training scheduled  throughout the year. At the end of the course, students will receive their I-CAR and OSHA certificates that will help them to gain employment in this field.

My hopes are that all of the students are able to leave the class with the knowledge and skills to not only have a trade but a great career that they love.
