Mrs. Williams
Hi Eagles! My name is Mrs. Williams and I’m the School Counselor at Wallace-Gregg Elementary. I believe I have the best job in the world, because I have the opportunity of helping students succeed for a brighter future. I received my undergraduate degree from Saint Leo University and a Master’s in School Counseling from Liberty University.
My goal here at WGE is to focus on social-emotional learning in order to better help students academically and to prepare them for the future. There are a variety of strategies used to help students, such as classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling sessions. I also collaborate with teachers, staff, parents, and other stakeholders to find ways to help students thrive to their full potential.
Classroom Guidance
I visit each K-5th grade classroom monthly throughout the school year and have the chance to interact with every student during these lessons. Lessons typically last 20 minutes for K-1st and 30 minutes for 2nd-5th. These lessons cover topics such as school readiness skills, understanding feelings of self and others, problem solving skills, friendship skills, and bullying.
Small Group Counseling
A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending some extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills along with other students who are coping with similar life situations. Groups can have anywhere from 3-5 members and usually meet once a week for several weeks.
Individual Counseling
Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling to get help with academic, social, or emotional challenges.
