Mrs. Natarsha Bivens

My name is Mrs. NaTarsha Bivens. I teach 7th grade science and I oversee a WIN (What I Need) class.  It is truly an honor and a privilege to get to be a part of your child's educational journey. I am no stranger to the educational arena. I have 14+ years of educational experience and this is my second year of teaching. I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Francis Marion University in 2003 and my Master’s of Science in Counseling in 2012 from Capella University.  I am also a South Carolina PACE student.

I am committed to helping, nurturing, and teaching your child to become a lifetime learner.  I have the highest expectation for each and every student in my class to reach his or her highest potential. In addition, I have high expectations for appropriate behavior in and outside the classroom. A positive environment will facilitate high standards for learning and academic growth. My philosophy of teaching stems from the belief that learning needs to be student-centered and that students need to be equal partners in the learning process. My role as the teacher involves using my knowledge to put the necessary resources in the hands of the students and to make sure that my students are well equipped to find and evaluate the resources they need to answer their questions. All children can learn if given the right opportunities and appropriate resources. I strive to provide an environment that is full of opportunities for discovery and connections.

Students are more apt or inclined to learn when they connect with the material or the material is relevant to them. I have high expectations for all of my students because I believe if you set the bar high, students will reach for it. I acknowledge and accept that my students are coming from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and I will do my best to meet each child at their level and challenge them to exceed expectations.  So, thank you for supporting me in your child's educational journey!
