• Safety - 1st year students will complete our class safety training. They will achieve an 80 or better in order to access the lab.

2nd year students will complete the Osha 10 training module and recieve an Osha 10 Certification. This is required in order to access the lab.

Construction Math - 1st year students will work on measurements. Tape measure reading is our goal. Adding, subtracting, reducing, and converting fractions reinforce my goal.

                                 2nd year is not required.

Print Reading -   1st year students will explore and discover the shapes, lines, views, and details of Print Reading, including basic terminology used in Blueprints

2nd year students dive deeper into Print Reading with the components and symbols. The end goal is for them to build on the information from the previous year in order to interpret a blueprint drawing.

Oxy-Fuel -  1st year students experience oxy-fuel in a few different ways. Students learn to use oxygen and acetylene to produce a flame that can be used to heat, cut, and weld metal. Students are required to pass a oxy-fuel setup and breakdown test. Students will also be required to cut straight and curved lines. Students will use the oxyfuel process to scarf metal. Students will braze and weld t-joints and lap joints using the oxy-fuel process.

2nd year students continue to use the oxy-fuel process by cutting plates they need for another section in class (Smaw, Gmaw, Gtaw)

Plasma arc - 1st year students will experience Plasma arc in a couple of ways. First with the handheld portable plasma arc machine. Students will get to operate this machine to cut thin    pieces of metal. The other is a Plasma arc table. This peice of equipment is a high tech plasma arc system that can be programmed to cut different shapes and designs. Students will get to experience how this machine is programmed and operated.

2nd year students continue to experience the plasma table through the fabrication and welding of projects.

Smaw -  1st year students will learn techniques and positioning through hands on welding. Students will work on welding beads on plate in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead postions. Students will work on welding t-joints in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead postions. Students will work on welding lap joints in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead postions.

2nd year students will work on mastering open root welds. Students will use two plates to properly produce a weld that will pass a coupon bend test. Student are required to  accomplish this in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead postions.

Gmaw -1st year students will learn techinques and postioning through hands on welding.

Gtaw - 1st year not offered

2nd year students will learn techinques and postioning through hands on welding. Students will work on welding beads on plate in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead postions. Students will work on welding t-joints in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead postions. Students will work on welding lap joints in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead postions.

Fabrication -  1st year students will work on projects if time permits

2nd year students will work in groups and participate in a welding rodeo style competition among themselves.
