A/B Cohort Instructional Model
A/B Cohort Instruction is an instructional method where the course content and learning material are taught in-person to a group of students. This allows for live interaction between a learner and a teacher. It is the most traditional type of learning instruction. Learners benefit from a greater level of interaction with their fellow students as well. In A/B Cohort Instruction, students are held accountable for their progress at the class’s specific meeting date and time. A/B Cohort Instruction ensures a better understanding and recollection of lesson content and gives class members a chance to bond with one another. This cohort combines traditional classroom instruction and eLearning.
eLearning is the use of technology to enable students to learn anytime and anywhere. On eLearning Days, students do not report to school, but will complete classroom activities using technology. It is likely that students in our traditional program will experience both in-person and eLearning due to changing conditions related to COVID. eLearning experiences will be used to supplement the A/B Cohort Instructional Model and/or maybe used in short-term or emergency closures. Any future eLearning may include new material, a more structured schedule, normal grading, and pre-recorded or live lessons with students' regular classroom teachers.
F1S Virtual Academy Model
Florence 1 Schools will add a new full-time virtual option for students in grades 5K-12. The F1S Virtual Academy is an online-based platform that offers students and teachers digital learning alternatives. A virtual classroom is meant to replicate and replace the physical classroom environment for distance learners. A virtual learning environment utilizes technology to replace in-class learning experiences. For example, digital communication, interaction, assessments and quizzes run through the virtual learning environment. Students enrolled in the F1S Virtual Academy continue their status as a full time student of their assigned school and are eligible to participate in school activities.
