• Summer School Registration Information

    Credit Recovery: If you have taken a course and earned a 50 or higher, you need Credit Recovery.
    Initial Credit: If you are looking to take a class that you have never taken before (or a class you didn't pass with a 50 or higher), you need initial credit.

    ****Students may take APEX credit recovery classes OR F1SVS classes, but not BOTH unless he/she is a freshman who needs to promote or a senior who will be able to graduate on AUGUST 8.

    Dates of the courses   
    APEX – School starting on June 10th (8:00-11:00 A.M. or 12:00-3:00 P.M. based on availability

    F1SVS - Students will report to home schools on MONDAY, June 10 and will be expected to attend from 8-11 for the month of June. After June, students can complete work at home if proficient.

    Virtual SC - Done at home. Final exam at school. Finals are July 30 - August 1, 2019

    APEX Credit Recovery/ FA Registration Process

    • *Florence One Students Pay $50 fee to home school.
    • Register online from May 21st- June 7th at South Florence Summer School Registration  
    • Guidance counselor will approve request.
    • Mrs. Simbeck will enroll students in courses and make notification by email.
    • Upon notification, student will begin course work.

    Credit Recovery/ FA Dates

    Classes:  June 10 (or upon enrollment) – Wednesday, July 31 (Monday-Thursday)          
    Vacation:  July 4

    F1SVS Registration Process

    • *Florence One Students Pay $50 fee to home school.
    • Register online May 21-June 7th at this link located on the F1S website: https://www.f1s.org/Page/9428
    • Students may only take ONE unit in F1SVS unless the statement below applies.
      • Students may take APEX credit recovery classes OR F1SVS classes, but not BOTH unless he/she is a freshman who needs to promote or a senior who will be able to graduate on AUGUST 8.

    • Mrs. Helton will enroll students in courses and make notification by email.
    • Upon notification, student will begin course work.

    F1SVS  Dates

    • Students must attend their home school on June 10- June 27th (Monday-Thursday) from 8-12
    • On June 27, F1SVS teachers will assess each student to determine the students status.
      • If a student is passing and is maintaining his pacing guide, he will have the option to work from home, returning to his home school to complete unit tests.
      • If a student does not meet the above requirements, he will be required to remain working from his home school until the end of the term.
    • Students who do not plan to attend their home schools for F1SVS online classes should consider VSC.

    *Students must be enrolled as a F1S student as of MAY 21, 2019, in order to take a class at the F1S enrollment fee. See below regarding Out of District students.

    Virtual SC Registration Process 

    • Virtual School is free
    • Register online at the following website: https://virtualsc.org/
      • May 15-29: Grades 11-12
      • May 22-29: Grades 7-10
      • April 24 - June 5 for students in grades 9-12th
        • Credit Recovery courses begin each Monday during the CR enrollment period listed above. Courses will be open for access at 8:00 a.m.

    • Virtual School will email you when you have been approved
    • Upon notification from VSC, student will begin course work at home.

      Out of District Students 

    1. An out-of-district student must present a PRINCIPAL’S LETTER of recommendation along with a copy of the  student’s discipline record before registering. Florence One students have priority enrollment status in all  classes. Out- of-district students cannot be served until all in-district students have been accommodated. Out-of-District Students pay $350.00 (per unit). PAYMENT IN FULL IS REQUIRED.  NO PARTIAL PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Payments must be made to the summer school site. Out-of–district students MUST pay using cash or money order. **May not be offered at all schools
    2. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS FOR STUDENTS WHO DO NOT COMPLETE SUMMER SCHOOL. Payment of  summer school tuition is no guarantee that credit will be granted.
    3. Students must have completed the course with a passing grade to receive credit.
    4. All  F1SVS classes will be offered via APEX, a computer-based program, supervised by a certified teacher.

    IMPORTANT NOTES for APEX, F1SVS & Virtual SC:

    GRADES

    • Grades will be posted to the transcript at the conclusion of the course. F1SVS students will receive the earned grade, passing or failing.

    TRANSPORTATION 

    • Students who are being picked up must be picked up IMMEDIATELY after school in the designated area.

    VEHICLES

    • Students will park in the designated area for students.
    • Students must have permission from the summer school principal on duty to go to a vehicle.
    • Students who leave campus without permission will be summarily dismissed from summer school.

     BREAK

    • Students are restricted to the designated area during the 15 minute break. No one is allowed in the parking lot or other areas of the campus. In addition, students may not leave the campus during the break. Students are expected to put trash, cans, and bottles in receptacles provided.
    • Food and drinks are not allowed inside the classrooms
    • Failure to dispose of trash properly may result in the closing of the vending area at the discretion of the summer school principal or his/her designee.
    • Only the rest rooms near the classrooms may be used.

    OTHER CONCERNS

    • Classroom problems will be handled at the discretion of the lead teacher and/or the principal on duty. Failure to cooperate with a teacher or rude/discourteous behavior may result in dismissal from summer school.
    • Students should be prepared to work diligently each day to insure their passing the course.
    • Students who choose to sleep in class or are sent out of class for any reason may be sent home  for a specified period of time or removed from summer school at the discretion of the lead teacher and/or summer school principal on duty.
    • Students are not permitted in unauthorized areas.
    • Students must not enter classrooms unless a teacher is  present.

    Parents will be notified of problems within the classroom. Parents may call the summer school office to get an update of their student’s progress. Additionally, parents may request that their e-mail address be added to the Apex system which e-mails student progress reports each Sunday night.
