Overview of SC READY
The South Carolina College-and-Career-Ready Assessments (SC READY) are statewide assessments in English language arts (ELA) and meathematics that will meed all of the requirements of Acts 155 and 200, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), the Individuals with Disabilites Education Improvement Act (IDEA), and the Assessments Peer Review guidance.
All students in grades 3-8 are required to take the SC READY except those students with significant cognitive disabilities who qualify for the South Carolina National Center and State Collaborative (SC-NCSC) alternate assessment.
SC READY assessments will be administered in a computer-based-format only, with the following exceptions:
- Students who cannot take online assessments due to their disabilites as specified in their IEPs or 504 plans, may be tested in a paper-based format.
- Districts receiving a wavier from the computer-based requirement may test in a paper-based format.
