“No winter lasts forever, and never does spring skip its turn.” I love this quote as it reminds me that when things seem hard there is hope on the horizon. In teaching, my goal is to bring both hope and encouragement to each of my students on their level. As an elementary school student, I did not much like the thought of school much less reading, writing, or math. This was true of me through middle and some of high school as well. Struggling seemed to chase me through school. However, college took a turn for the better and learning began to “click” in a way I had never really experienced. “Spring” had in fact sprung in my learning!
As a dual Early Childhood Education and Communications major at the University of South Carolina, I was in full bloom. I was experiencing learning at its finest and it would take me places upon graduation like…the islands of Beaufort, SC, Columbia, SC, Fort Mill, SC, Dallas, GA and Florence, SC, all places that I have had the pleasure to teach and prune my love of learning and teaching.
My areas of expertise include being Reading Recovery trained, having a Literacy Teacher Endorsement, and in depth hands on experience with Leveled Literacy Interventions. Reading and teaching reading is my passion.
